Watch Out For Low Ballers

You have an ideal budget in mind. Everyone loves a good deal. The tricky part is distinguishing a good deal from the beginning of what will seem like a bad dream.

The outlier is not the golden ticket

You have 3 moving quotes that are within a couple hundred dollars of one another. That stubborn accountant in you goes “there has to be a better deal”. You get a 4th quote and FINALLY, $1,000 cheaper than the cheapest quote you have. Most will hastily book without asking a very simple question; why is it $1,000 cheaper? Ask the salesman of the miracle working company and he will inform you how his company is the best and simply “has it like that” or some unsubstantiated non-sense. It is terrible when things are too good to be true but when it sounds like it, you know the saying… The reality is this: You are getting low balled. Depending on your finances this will be a big bump in the road or an absolute nightmare.

Get Real About Your Budget

Moving is not cheap. The worst thing is, even self moving has come to nearly match the cost of hiring a mover. In some cases it even costs more. The only way to cut the moving cost at this point is to determine what matters most and what doesn’t. The best way to save money is to take the essentials. If your budget is loose, take everything you’d like and expect to pay exactly what it costs (yes even the little things you have a million of that you didn’t think you’d have to mention) . If your budget is tight then read and read well, take the bed, dresser, night stand, sofa, t.v., dining table, seating, and a couple dozen boxes. Take only what you need. Put exactly what you have in your estimate and it will come in very close. Moving day will be a breeze.

Small Conclusion

Watch out for cheap movers. You’re moving your entire life. Remember who you were when you wanted that fishing boat, professional guitar, or your beautiful furniture? Take that person into consideration. Don’t’ fall prey to low-balling estimators and companies. Move your belongings with the respect they deserve!
